Relevance Search in Dynamics 365 – Ep 5

Among many search options in Dynamics 365, Relevance Search offers a user experience much like traditional search engines. Host Matthew C. Anderson has recently been through a couple of implementations and chats with Britta Rekstad about:

  • What order to configure things in
  • What some of the common a-ha moments are
  • Some nice-to-know considerations when implementing

Ep 4 Dynamics 365 Workflow Engine – Foundations

The Dynamics 365 Workflow engine, which is the behind-the-scenes part of the process engine, is massively powerful. For host Britta Rekstad, who has presented on how to use Dynamics workflow at multiple conferences, this is an absolutely critical aspect of the platform for new admins to understand.

Co-host Matthew C. Anderson shares about how some of his early experiences in configuring Dynamics 365 involved workflow. This experience also included a spoken agreement to be careful as the workflow engine (used without care) can cause some pain for other users and admins alike.

Discussed on the show

We seem to have different perspectives on using the workflow engine, however, there’s no disagreement on how important and powerful this tool is when implementing Dynamics 365. A very flexible tool, this part of the process engine sits out-of-sight to most users but serves an important role.

Ep 3 Excel Templates in Dynamics 365, admin edition

Templates in Dynamics 365 are not a new concept, but Excel Templates are more approachable to users and admins alike. Whether you’ve already started using these in your environment, or you’re thinking about rolling them out, you’ll want to listen to this episode. Hosts Britta Rekstad and Matthew C. Anderson dive in to discuss some initial administrator considerations when using these in Dynamics 365.

Discussed on the show

During the episode, we also chat about some of our early concepts for the Implement This podcast. We also tried to keep this one a little shorter (our target time has always been about 25 minutes…). We do our best to keep this installment focused on the initial admin aspects of implementation–let us know through the website if there are specific aspects of templates you want to know more about.

If you’re listening to this before Summit 17, you can hear a whole lot more about this in Matthew’s Top Tips for better Excel Templates session on Thursday, October 12 @ 2:30 in “Cheekwood GH”

Ep 2 Editable Grids in Dynamics 365

Have you used the editable grids feature that’s now part of Dynamics 365? What should you be thinking about when considering an implementation? They’ve been a longtime request from the community, so does that mean they should be used everywhere? Hosts Britta Rekstad and Matthew C. Anderson follow up on this topic which came up in episode 1.

Discussed on the show

During the episode, if you want to have a little fun, here’s a game to try: count the number of times you hear “edible grids” vs. “editable grids”. Consider how silly this sounds to the average person.
